While growing up on a family farm, Fred learned a strong work ethic is key to success in any endeavor. Fred's rural upbringing instilled in him beneficial life skills that have served him well during his career. A few of these include honesty, ingenuity, tenacity and respect. He considers the “Golden Rule” to be the foundation for building any relationship, business or personal.
Fred attended School of the Ozarks, a nationally known work/study college, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Aviation Science. While at S of O, he began taking flying lessons and became an instrument-rated commercial pilot. Fred continued his post-graduate education at Central Missouri State University earning a Master’s degree in Aviation Safety. Fred holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot certificate with numerous turboprop and jet type ratings.
Fred’s aviation career led him to Cessna and Beechcraft in various roles from CAD/CATIA design engineering to production flight test pilot to aircraft accident investigator. Currently, Fred is a professional pilot on a contract basis. He flies an array of business jets on short term, temporary assignments, a few days each month.
After 26 years in aviation, Fred has scaled back his travelling lifestyle to focus on his family. This added schedule flexibility has allowed Fred to pursue his real estate career with his wife, Michelle Leeper, also a Weigand Realtor®.
Fred and Michelle have one daughter and live on a residential airport. In his leisure time, Fred enjoys spending time with his family, woodworking, building a Van's RV-8 experimental aircraft, pleasure flying and RV camping.
